Google is providing more than $150 million to promote vaccine education and equitable distribution and making it easier to find locally relevant information, including when and where to get the vaccine. We’ll also be opening up Google spaces to serve as vaccination sites as needed.

As the spread of Covid-19 continues, the vaccination of elderly people has started across Japan. Therefore, from May 18th, Uber will collaborate with taxi companies around the country to implement a program in 11 cities nationwide to provide elderly people with free taxi rides so that they can safely move to the vaccination site. Through this initiative, we hope to help create an environment where elderly people can easily receive vaccinations. In this unprecedented crisis, Uber will continue to support the community.

Facebook has made efforts to centralize information related to COVID-19 on its platform through the COVID-19 Information Center and Community Help pages. It is also making its platform safer and more secure by removing misinformation related to COVID-19 and vaccination and updating its ads policy. It also supplies the trending public posts on Facebook and Instagram related to COVID-19 as a monitoring tool.

THE ACCJ HEALTHCARE SECTOR VS. COVID-19
ACCJ member companies in the Healthcare sector are playing leading roles in the fight against COVID-19:
Lilly is bringing the full force of its scientific and medical expertise to attack the coronavirus pandemic around the world. Existing Lilly medicines are being studied to understand their potential in treating complications of COVID-19, and the company is collaborating with partner companies to discover and develop novel antibody treatments for COVID-19. In Japan, we have been enforcing strict measures to prevent infection. The effort includes the sterilization of workplaces, providing care for employees and their families, digitalization of communication tools (virtual meeting with our customers), and support for the community.
AbbVie made significant contributions to the pandemic relief effort in 2020, including, but not limited to, the donation of 8.3 million yen to the Japan Medical Association to support healthcare professionals on the COVID-19 frontlines from the company welfare program fee and the donation of 2,000 hand-cleaning stamps to children’s nursing homes.
AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine was granted special approval for emergency use in Japan for the active immunization of individuals aged 18 years and older on May 21, 2021. Working together with our partners, we hope to contribute to the efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan. We are also developing an antibody drug for COVID-19 for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
In close collaboration with authorities, industry partners, and other stakeholders, Bayer is engaged in financial and product donations, research cooperations, ensuring medicinal supply, and community support and joining forces with the global community in fighting back against COVID-19. In Japan, Bayer Yakuhin donated JPY 5 million to the nonprofit organization Peace Winds Japan for purchasing medical gowns to support healthcare professionals, 200 medical gowns to Shiga Prefecture where it operates a pharmaceutical production site, and 6,000L of highly concentrated ethanol solution to Tokyo, Osaka and Peace Winds Japan.
During the current world health crisis, Bristol Myers Squibb continues to take all necessary actions to promote public health by carrying out its mission of providing life-saving medicines to the patients who depend on the company, conducting research and supporting relief efforts across the globe.
The P&G Group, in cooperation with the government and NPO corporations, has worked to deliver relief supplies necessary to combat the effects of Covid-19. As of March 27, we have delivered the following relief supplies: surgical masks, ethanol disinfectant, face shields, and more. We have also donated millions of yen to the Kobe Medical Professional Support Fund and Save the Children.
Stryker Japan is committed to helping Japan address COVID-19. Stryker Japan has made donations of personal protection equipment (PPE), such as gowns, to Hokkaido where the demand was critically high.
ACCJ CONSUMER GOODS & RETAIL SECTOR vs. COVID-19
The Coca-Cola system in Japan strives to ensure a stable supply of safe and secure products while taking necessary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the health of consumers, employees, and business partners. In 2020, we donated soft drinks, face shields using recycled PET materials, and alcohol for disinfection to designated medical institutions for infectious diseases. On top of that, we have funded a total of 1.5M USD to support health care workers and people in need through NGOs.
Amway has made significant contributions to the pandemic relief effort, including, but not limited to, the donation of 10 of its ATMOSPHERE Sky air purifier units to Tokyo Medical Center to improve the working environment of a major hospital on the front lines of treating COVID-19 patients, and the donation of over 200,000 masks to Shibuya City and Shibuya City Social Welfare Council to be used by essential workers for their long-term personal protection.
