Event Overview

Early this year, a broad set of legal changes were made to the Japanese Civil Code that significantly impact businesses in Japan and may directly affect your profitability and sustainability. These include rules governing:

  • Unlimited guarantees

  • General contract terms and conditions

  • Interest rates for late payments

  • Statutes of limitations on claims for unpaid debts and receivables

The ACCJ-Chubu Independent Business Committee (IBC) will be presenting a series of webinars to discuss these and other changes, and their relevance to business owners and managers in Japan. We will consider not only the concrete changes to the law, but also practical steps business owners and managers can take to benefit and to safeguard their business going forward. This first part will be followed by two more presentations about these major changes.

The webinar will be presented by Jeffrey Jackson, a Japanese gyoseishoshi, and moderated by Chubu IBC Chair George Van Horn. This will be an interactive event that includes a Q&A portion for questions from the audience.
