Over the last five years the Japan Venture Capital Association (JVCA) has developed several innovative activities.  At this event, we will hear an update from one of the Board members of the JVCA who has been leading these new programs.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) entrusted the JVCA with research related several projects to promote a venture ecosystem in Japan. For example, this year the JVCA has issued the first ever Domestic VC Performance Benchmarks.  Produced in collaboration with Preqin, a data provider to the alternative investment industry, this paper aims to increase the allocation of institutional investors into the venture capital asset class.

Past JVCA projects have included activities related to regulations and accounting standards; media communication activities; collaboration between venture companies and large companies; collaboration between VCs and universities and the creation of university-initiated ventures, as well as activities related to domestic regional revitalization by fostering ventures and collaboration with overseas VC associations and national governments.

The JVCA has about 250 members and includes a wide variety of types of participants, ranging from financial investors, VC fund managers, Corporate Venture Capital and international investors.

Come to learn about this fast-growing sector of Japanese alternative investment.
