Event Overview

Are you trying to make sense of the US election and its implications for the broader political and economic context in which your business operates? Then it’s the perfect time to sit down with Nicholas Hill, the number-two official at the US Embassy in Tokyo. The deputy chief of mission will share his thoughts on what’s next for relations between the United States and Japan, allies and partners whose economies, together, account for one-fifth of the world’s gross domestic product.

At this breakfast meeting, Mr. Hill will discuss the road ahead for the United States and Japan following what has been one of the most closely watched presidential elections in recent memory. This includes probable post-November 3 priorities for the next administration, as well as anticipated milestones for what former US Ambassador to Japan Edwin Reischauer once called “the most important bilateral relationship in the world, bar none.” Mr. Hill’s experience over the course of his 30-year career as a diplomat—including multiple assignments in Japan—should make a fascinating and informative conversation.
