Location: Japan (Full-time, Permanent or Contract)

To accelerate our growth and expand our market share across product categories, we are seeking a dynamic and strategic Japan Country Manager to drive our business forward.
Position Overview: The Japan Country Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Ergobaby’s business in Japan, working closely with our long-standing distributor. This leader will assess current business operations, identify growth opportunities, and implement strategies to ensure Ergobaby continues to excel in existing and new categories. The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic vision, sales & marketing acumen, and relationship management expertise to elevate our brand’s success in the Japanese market.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning – Develop and execute a winning market strategy to maintain category leadership and drive success in new product segments.
Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape.
Define clear growth objectives and action plans to outperform competitors.
Business Development – Identify and capitalize on new opportunities within the Japanese market.
Assess untapped market segments and develop strategic entry plans.
Enhance the performance of existing product lines, ensuring competitive positioning.
Sales Management – Drive sales growth by effectively collaborating with distributor sales team.
Establish clear KPIs and performance metrics.
Monitor sales execution and provide strategic guidance to improve outcomes.
Market Analysis & Expansion – Continuously evaluate market gaps and future opportunities.
Develop business cases for potential new product introductions and expansions.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on market data.
Relationship Management – Strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders.
Work closely with our distributor while also engaging directly with major retailers, e-commerce platforms, and other business partners.
Serve as the primary liaison between Ergobaby’s global leadership and local market players.
People & Team Development – Assess and enhance capabilities within the local team in Japan and internally at Ergobaby.
Identify skill gaps and areas for improvement within the local team.
Provide recommendations on where to strengthen local capabilities directly.
Key Qualifications:
Fluent in Japanese and English (both written and verbal).
Resides in Japan full-time with deep market knowledge.
Proven track record in sales and business development in Japan, preferably in the juvenile or other premium branded consumer products industry (but not mandatory).
Experience working with an American or international brand is a plus.
Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and execution ability.
Self-starter & entrepreneurial mindset are a must
Excellent relationship-building and communication skills to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders.
