Government Affairs Manager

Key Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Japan’s policy-making process and politics

  • Strong research and critical thinking skills Ability to manage and oversee projects, delegating and training staff as necessary to meet client needs

  • Strong project and client management skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Native level Japanese reading and writing skills

  • Fluency in English is preferred

  • Experience in key sectors including technology, energy, finance, defense, and healthcare is also a plus

Responsibility

  • Research and analyze public policy, providing recommendations to clients and the team

  • Write, edit, and proof policy and market reports Lead communications with key stakeholders, including government officials, Diet members, academics, and media Manage client accounts to ensure their satisfaction and that their needs are met

  • Prepare customized proposals to win new business

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in public policy, political science, international relations, or a related field

  • Working or internship experience in a ministry, agency, the Diet or a Diet member's office, or embassy will be an asset
