In Remembrance of Toko Shinoda

The ACCJ is saddened to hear the news of Toko Shinoda's passing. In her illustrious career spanning over eight decades, Shinoda was particularly renowned for her groundbreaking sumi ink paintings and prints, which blended traditional Japanese calligraphy with abstract expressionism.

In 1998, to commemorate the Chamber's 50th anniversary, Toko Shinoda created a special print to use as the Chamber's anniversary theme. We are grateful to display her work and to honor this trailblazing artist, who leaves an important legacy to Japan, and to the ACCJ and our members.

More details on Toko Shinoda’s life and career can be read here.
