ACCJ Mourns the Passing of Ambassador Walter Mondale

The ACCJ mourns the passing of Ambassador Walter Mondale, former U.S. Vice President and 24th U.S. Ambassador to Japan.

A long-time friend of the Chamber and champion of the U.S.-Japan relationship, Ambassador Mondale was a strong supporter of the American business community in Japan and actively engaged with the ACCJ throughout his time in Japan.

Ambassador Mondale received the very first ACCJ “Person of the Year” award in 1996 in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to enhancing business, commerce, and U.S.-Japan relations, and helping to achieve the ACCJ’s mission.

He will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to public service and for his promotion of the friendship and economic ties between our two countries. We are honored to have known him and extend our condolences to his family and friends at this time.
