We are pleased to have Mr. Takatoshi Iwashita of the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) join us for a presentation on the amended “Guidelines to Application of the Antimonopoly Act Concerning Review of Business Combination” (Merger Guidelines) and the “Policies Concerning Procedures of Review of Business Combination” (Merger Policies) as well as recent widely reported merger cases.

Last December, the JFTC amended the Merger Guidelines and Policies in order to conduct reviews appropriately in today’s changing economy.

He will share with us the merger review process undertaken by the JFTC, guidance to get the deal through and recent examples (including the Yahoo-Line integration).  Whether you’re a Japanese company or a foreign-capitalized one, you’ll receive practical tips on how to navigate the regulatory landscape for business combinations.

The main presentation will be conducted in Japanese, and some written materials will be bilingual (Japanese and English).

Mr. Iwashita joined the JFTC in 1995. He took up his current position in January 2020.
