SPEAKER: Dr. Shotaro Funai, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST)

MODERATOR: Daisuke Sakamoto, GR Japan, Kansai Business Programs Committee

HOSTING COMMITTEE: Kansai Business Programs Committee

Webinar: 18:00 - 19:00

Networking: 19:15 - 20:15

EVENT OVERVIEW:

ACCJ Kansai Business Programs Committee

The ACCJ Kansai Business Programs Committee is pleased to host a new online series on Technology. For this first session, we have invited Dr. Shotaro Funai of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) to share his cutting-edge research on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In this interview-style webinar, participants will learn basic knowledge about AI and insights into how we can utilize Al in our daily lives.

Dr. Funai will also focus on the role of AI in solving social issues we are facing due to COVID-19, such as taking measures to prevent infection, the increase in economic inequality, and environmental concerns, among others.

After the webinar, participants will have the opportunity to join a virtual networking session with Dr. Shotaro Funai. If you would like to participate, please register and send your Meishi (in PDF format) to kansai@accj.or.jp by 12:00 Thursday, June 4. (Please attend the main event in order to sign up for the networking event)

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Dr. Shotaro Funai, born in 1982, received his PhD at the Department of Physics, Graduate School of the University of Tokyo in 2010. His specialty is research on superstring theory, which is also called “ultimate physical theory.” He received the Elementary Particle Medal Encouragement Award in 2014.

Dr. Funai started researching machine learning in 2016. Currently, as a staff scientist at the Unit of Physical Biology, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University, he is continuing research to understand the behavior of machine learning from the perspective of physics.
