Event Description

The ACCJ welcomes back Pocket Sun to present case studies in how her venture investee companies are thriving, despite the pandemic, plus some interesting observations about the Coronavirus Economy. For example, two of her portfolio companies (an online custom wedding dress maker and an ashes to diamonds company) have created fundraising campaigns to source PPE for healthcare and death care workers.

Pocket Sun is one of the most prominent young female venture capitalists and entrepreneurs in Asia. She is the co-founder of SoGal Ventures, the first female-led millennial venture capital firm that invests globally in diverse entrepreneurs, with a focus on how the next generation lives, works and stays healthy. SoGal Ventures has invested in over 70 start-ups, including Everlywell, Function of Beauty and Lovevery.

Based in Singapore, Sun is a sought-after speaker at events such as the Microsoft CEO Summit, Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit, TEDx, and Slush amongst others.

She graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and shortly after became one of the youngest people to appear on the cover of Forbes Magazine at the age of 24.

In November 2019 she spoke to the ACCJ about “Next Gen Investing and Women Entrepreneurs”
