Event Overview
Mio Takaoka is an inspiration to us all. She has solidly worked throughout her career to grow her capabilities, learning new skills and industries as she built her impressive track record. After nine years in investment banking, starting at Goldman Sachs, Mio moved to Monex and was eventually promoted to executive director of Monex Group, Inc., the holding company listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
At the same time, she served as managing director of Monex Ventures, where she guided the firm’s decisions to invest in a number of startups. She moved to Arbor Ventures—one of the largest fintech-focused venture capital firms in Asia—and subsequently took up the challenge of helping build the promising medtech startup, running the largest medical information media in Japan as chief financial officer and managing director.
Did Mio carefully map out her career from scratch?
How did she evaluate the opportunities that came her way?
How did she make the decision to move or stay?
What motivated her to move from the security of an established company to her current position, where she is growing an innovative startup?
We all face such questions during our careers, and Mio, like many of us, had to make these important and life-changing decisions on her own. She likens the career-building steps she took to grabbing the next bar on a jungle gym.
This discussion, moderated by Women in Business Committee Vice-Chair Deborah Hayden, will explore some of the important questions we all face in our careers, as well as focus on how to stand out in a highly competitive environment.
Please join us for what promises to be a very interesting event.
