Task Force on Economic Security
The ACCJ recognizes the important linkages between national security and economic security and supports the efforts by the GOJ to promote Japan-U.S. economic security in the context of further strengthening the U.S.-Japan partnership.
The Kishida Cabinet has approved legislation regarding economic security which calls for the revision or promulgation of laws which protect Japan’s economic security in four broad areas: strengthening supply chains, protecting critical infrastructure, promoting cutting-edge technologies and confidentiality with respect to sensitive military and other technologies.
It is expected that the Diet will consider the proposed reforms this session. Affected ministries will also develop implementing rules and regulations which set forth important details.
The mandate of this Task Force is to closely monitor these developments as they unfold and recommend appropriate action to the Board of Governors.
