About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Government Relations Manager to join our team, with a focus on advocating and navigating the complexities of platform transparency legislation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of public policy, particularly as it relates to digital platforms, and will be responsible for engaging with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to promote and influence policy that aligns with our company's objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to platform transparency, consumer protection, data privacy, and other issues related to online digital platforms.
Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders both for regulatory compliance and business development.
Preparing reports and communicating with stakeholders regarding the Digital Platform Transparency Act.
Developing and executing strategies to enhance the transparency and fairness of dealings on Qoo10.jp.
Represent the company at government hearings, industry events, and in coalition meetings.
Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, compliance, and public relations, to ensure a cohesive approach to policy challenges.
Provide expert advice to senior management on public policy matters, potential risks, and strategic opportunities.
Qualifications:
Minimum 8 plus years government relations work experience related to Japan and substantial campaign experience, either working with a company, government, trade association or similar employer. Preferably having experience in a relevant industry: e-Commerce, Internet and Information Technology.
Bachelor’s degree level required.
Have a comprehensive understanding of Japan's policy environment, including the entities within the government and public policy community.
Have excellent communication skills, with business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
Strong networking skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in planning and legal work in a government agency.
Experience working in a matrix MNC company dealing with government relations or corporate affairs.
Experience working in a PR/GR consultancy firm supporting MNC companies on government, regulation, public policy issues.
