EVENT OVERVIEW

Join us for a conversation with Adobe Japan President Tomonobu Kamiya to hear the story of Adobe’s success in Japan, including how it helped unleash the country’s creativity and is now riding the current wave of digital transformation. Adobe Inc., one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s iconic tech companies, was launched nearly 40 years ago in a Palo Alto garage with technology that spawned a new industry: desktop publishing.
Today, Adobe is not only a household name, thanks to products such as Photoshop and the Acrobat PDF, it is also a leader in creative cloud services, document productivity, and digital transformation. Adobe entered the Japanese market almost 30 years ago and the country has become its one of the most critical markets.

In this special virtual event, jointly hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the National Association of Japan America Societies, Kamiya will talk about the secret to Adobe’s success in Japan, how the company has met the unique and changing needs of the local market, and how it views the Japanese government’s plans for digital transformation. The program will be moderated by Japan Society of Northern California Chairman Larry Greenwood. About the Speaker Tomonobu Kamiya has served as president of Adobe Japan since April 2021. He is responsible for Adobe’s overall operations in Japan across the company’s three cloud businesses: Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and Experience Cloud. Since joining Adobe Japan in October 2014, Kamiya has headed the entire Digital Media operations that consists of Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, and OEM sales. He was also instrumental in driving Adobe’s own digital transformation, converting the retail inventory business to a cloud-based subscription model.

Prior to joining Adobe, Kamiya served as managing director for the Asia–Pacific and Middle East regions at D&M Holdings Inc. (now Sound United) from 2012 to 2014. There he drove revenue and EBITDA growth through sales, marketing, and business transformation. Before D&M, he worked in key marketing and sales executive positions at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Dell (now Dell Inc.) and Bosch, expanding their businesses across Japan and the Asia–Pacific, as well as globally.

Kamiya received a bachelor of arts in private international law from Aoyama Gakuin University and completed the executive program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
