Support Ukrainian College Students at Temple University (Japan Campus)
The Japan campus of Temple University (TUJ) is excited to announce a new scholarship program for Ukrainian undergraduate students who have fled the country after the invasion by Russia.
TUJ plans to provide study abroad scholarships and other financial assistance for up to 10 Ukrainian students. TUJ and its partners will cover tuition and fees while providing the Ukrainian students with airfare to Japan, a monthly ¥80,000 stipend, and other logistical assistance. Uninest, one of TUJ’s valued housing partners, has offered to provide free housing for the Ukrainian students.
TUJ is looking to its partners, supporters, companies, and other individuals to assist them with airfare and the monthly living stipend. They also welcome donations to help offset the tuition and fees.
Accepted Ukrainian students will be able to earn regular academic credits while studying at TUJ, and later transfer these credits back to their home institutions to help expedite and ensure the acquisition of a college degree.
Given the circumstances in Ukraine, they may see some of these students transfer to TUJ. They hope to assist these students in any manner possible. TUJ opened its applications for 10 days and received over 130 applications.
They have the full support of the Ukrainian Embassy. If they are able to raise funds or acquire sponsors for additional students, they would like to welcome additional students to their campus in Japan.
