Support the SEGO Initiative #CreateWaves Campaign

SEGO Initiative is a not for profit general incorporated association based in Fujisawa. We create family friendly, grassroots, immersive experiences that connect minds, hearts and nature.

Our activities focus on the land (Organic Farming Project) and the sea. Since 2009, we have been doing the Fujisawa Beach Cleaning Project.

The Project has grown into 3 key pillars: volunteering for corporate supporters, families and students; public education via citizen science and art; and reconnecting to the marine environment that we are trying to protect via sailing. We are the Trash Free Seas Tokyo coordinator for Ocean Conservancy, a DC-based NGO, part of UNESCO Ocean Decade Global Stakeholder Forum and work with Kanagawa Prefecture Coastal Environment Foundation.

Due to Covid 19, we adapted our large biannual in-person beach cleanups by developing educational webinar programming for the public, and for corporate supporters, TogetherApart cleanups.

With more than 70% of all beach debris starting at our homes, offices, schools and factories, volunteers clean close to where they live, work or play. Citizen science built into our cleanups underscore the fact that we all have a part to play in mitigating this.

We are planning the #CreateWaves Campaign for 2022, with a launch scheduled for this Spring (Earth Day). Ocean Community Days FUNdraising Challenge is an entertaining gameplay in which Together Apart cleanups are embedded.

This is followed by “Waves of Change” educational programming with webinars, art and film and “Create Waves”, hands-on participatory opportunities to develop and execute creative coastal community-based solutions.

We are looking for corporate partners to help us build the #CreateWaves Campaign. For more information, please contact us .
