Juneteenth Gala Seeds of Hope

Legacy Foundation Japan is seeking support for the Juneteenth Gala Seeds of Hope Project. The project will need support from April 10-June 17. Resources such as hotel, food vouchers, 1 day internships, vouchers that share the Japanese experience are all welcome and appreciated.

About the Organization:

Legacy Foundation Japan is a social professional network headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.  Founded in January 2020 and established as a General Incorporated Association in March 2021, the Foundation’s mission is dedicated to connecting, investing, and empowering the future of African Americans and people of African descent in Japan.

About the Event:

Legacy Foundation Japan seeks to educate, celebrate, and share the spirit of this celebration in Japan with our global family of people, brands, and organizations, as it exemplifies a globally recognized need to leverage our past for a more equal, just, and shared future for all, our “Seeds of Hope.”

This year's 2nd Annual Juneteenth Gala, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African- Americans. Held Saturday, June 17th at The Tokyo American Club in Tokyo Japan, this year’s theme, “Seeds Of Hope'', will honor the contributions of Rosenwald Schools and Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) as we celebrate the significance of education following the ending of slavery. African Americans in the former slave-holding states saw education as an important step toward achieving equality, independence, and prosperity. As a result, they found ways throughout history to learn despite the many obstacles before them.

Request for Action:

Legacy Foundation Japan hopes that together with partnering individuals, organizations and companies, we can sow seeds of hope into home communities through amazing experiences here in Japan, starting with the Coahoma Community College Concert Choir. When you plant seeds of hope into your garden, business or life there are no promises, but there is a driving force that makes you persevere because you have hope that you will succeed. You have something to believe in. Will you plant your seed today?
